Authenticity as the revolution! I mean I don’t know what to say I haven’t even got all the way through yet and it’s the best piece of writing I’ve read all month!
I was feelign teh same way about your recent one about that extraordinary poet and her poem. As I started to read it I felt the top of my head fly open and I couldnt’ have stopped reading if I tried. To be carried away. To be senselessly In. Thank you for reading and sharing. I’m so deeply appreciative of the collaborations
Reading this was like my mind blowing bubbles. I also want to eat this post, it is so delicious. I had to read #7 out loud to my husband. Edited to add: reading this also feels like you sent a hug and a jelly donut to my house. Thank you!
Gosh now I want to send you jelly donuts for realz. What a tender thing to want to do. Thank you for the bubbles that your mind blows. I was thinking about you the other day, after having Very ManyFeels about a style of Christianity that feels avoidant of the deep divine expression pulsing thru all. And how sad it is to have something so beautiful to be used to close doors to light instead of tearing off the hinges. But then I thot, “but not MAdeleine, she’s tearing off the hinges”
When I get brokenhearted about how the church has effed itself over and lost the beauty of its origins, I try and remember folks like Meister Eickhart and Hildegard of Bingen and Pierre de Theilhard etc, who wrote about the presence of divine love in and through creation. I feel more in tune with God when I watch the sunrise and feel at one with the land as it wakes than I do in a lot of religious settings.
Hildegard has a profound sense of the greenness of life. Contemplating and Being with her ruminations inspired one of my central understandings of Beingness. Yes, it is rough here in America. Rome is burning everywhere, isn’t it?
I imagine too that a rigorously conservative and power wielding actuality that weaponizes shame and control is probably more of a reality where you are in America? I can’t imagine a less Jesus shaped faith than what is rapidly gaining political ascendency right now.
